U.D.O.
"Rev-Raptor"
Label: AFM Records
As expected, few days after the “Leatherhead” E.P., the 13th studio album of the German semi-god and his band arrived on our hands. The E.P. that, as always, released firstly, this time was more representative for the sound of “Rev - Raptor”. Continuing with the same, very good, line up, “Rev - Raptor” follows the steps of “Dominator”, with the classic German heavy metal sound that U.D.O. always plays since 1980. If someone wanted to find a small difference between “Rev - Raptor” and the privious L.P.’s, that would be the apparent intention of the band to create an album that would be tantamount with the latest amazing Accept album, “Blood Of The Nations”. And of course, this target was impossible to be reached (as we talk for one of the greatest Accept albums and one of the best of the last decade), but its influence was great for the final result as the success of “Blood Of The Nations” obstinate the band that finally created one of the best albums of Udo’s career. Except from the already known “Leathrhead”, the new album contains some great moments such as the amazing “Dr. Death” and “Terrorvision”, also the slowest “Underworld” and “Fairytales Of Victory” and the album’s best track “True Born Winners”, a true heavy metal thunder! Beyond these, the rest seven songs conclude an enough good and solid album that will satisfy all the fans of the group, but maybe will leave indifferent the others. Having already many personal albums on his career, Udo maybe can’t offer us something new or extremely interested but only good and honest heavy metal. Personally I would enjoy more a live concert of the mighty Udo in Greece after all these years!
