At least that's what Ian Gillan suggested while the band was in a press conference in Mexico City. When he was asked if there are any plans for a new release by the rock legends, Gillan said: "I guess it's about time, isn't it? So we're gonna get together and have a writing session quite soon. And if we get excited, then we'll probably have another album finished shortly after that. We'll see how it goes. But there's no plans. But I think we're getting poked by various connections who would like to see another Deep Purple record. So i think it's about time."
Of more immediate interest is the release of a special limited 7" vinyl single to be released April 16th. This single will contain unreleased versions of Hush and Speed King from 1969. This single is released in the context of the 2011 Record Store Day, a day that has been institutionalized to celebrate independent record stores around the world. The two tracks will also be included in the anticipated "BBC Sessions" to be released in a couple of months.
