Slayer bassist/vocalist, Tom Araya, blew out his voice prior to last Friday’s concert in Melbourne, Australia, forcing the band to play some of its songs as instrumentals or with members of other groups helping out on lead vocals.
Yesterday, Araya was advised by his doctors not to perform at today’s show in Adelaide, Australia, due to severe laryngitis. The band was on route to Adelaide intending to perform, but the doctors’ advice forced them to cancel. According to Slayer’s announcements so far, the band will perform the last show of the seven-date co-headline tour with Megadeth in New Zealand and Australia this Tuesday, on October 13, in Perth, Australia. When the news broke, Megadeth confirmed that hey will play an extended show tonight at the Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide, while Dave Mustaine expressed his concern about Araya’s health and invited Slayer’s Kerry King to join Megadeth onstage during tonight’s show (!), but that looks quite difficult although there’s no further announcement yet. Let’s not forget the guitarists’ feud over the years… Anyhow, we wish Tom Araya a quick recovery… Posted: 11.10.09 |
