It's about 10 and Jon Oliva's Pain have taken over the stage at "Blue Stage". However the fact that I had never watched another concert in the particular venue and noticing such a few people participating , an often phenomenon in Greece during the last years, it began to trouble me. But let's take it from the start.

Around 9pm Need started their show. One of the most recognized groups in the Greek heavy metal scene with a big number of fans, managed to warm up the crowd. More mature than the last time that I saw them, they played for about 45 minutes ,and said goodnight with an unreleased song, written and dedicated to Dimebag Darrell and left the stage for Jon and his company.

The first notes of "Sirens" are played and Jon Oliva, with the help of a walking stick that he held whenever he stood up, takes the role of the crowd ,while the crowd takes the role of the performer. Second song is "Unusual" which gives us a taste for the "Savatage" party that was about to follow. The band in excellent form, Jon as usual imposing, like a real Mountain King. Between all he did not forget to dedicate a song to his brother Criss. Something he does in each and every one of his performances, and this time the song was Hounds.

With tracks from their new album such as, the title track Global Warning, Adding the Cost, Firefly, all material that he had worked with his brother and perfects now, his old good moments from Savatage like Gutter Ballet, Jesus Saves, (where all hell broke loose!), Tonight he grins again, we reached the end of the concert. While saying goodnight, they promised to visit Greece again, and played Hall of the Mountain King as encore.

During the concert, and also after it, I couldn't help but to wonder. Did maybe Jon Oliva, even with his personal band not deserve to be presented somewhere else? Didn't he deserve more promotion? Once more the attendance of the people was mediocre. Are the concerts these days so many and expensive that they keep people from going?

Anyway ,so to conclude, with such a powerful set list and an excellent performance, from both bands, along with the good sound and as usually the boiling hot atmosphere that is created by the Greek crowd, the only sure thing is that whoever attended that concert must only feel lucky, and full.
