Friday night and that evening reserved for us a great pure metal party! Sabaton for the fist time in Greece, my first live for 2009 and it all started with power!...

Arriving a little late at Texas Necropolis club, I unfortunately missed the first support act – X-Piral- but I arrived just on time for the appearance of the second support act, Marauder. They began with
The Greek Revolution Begins and it was obvious that the band was in a great mood. . “Born Again”, “The Return Of The Warrior”, “The End Of A Madman”, “Gods Will” were included in the setlist of Marauder that offered to us almost one hour of heavy metal warming the audience for the headliners’ appearance.

It was time for the Swedish “Panzers” to come on stage and start to “conquer” the Greek audience!..The lights went down and the intro of Ghost Division” that was heard, meant the beginning of merciless headbanging! Second tracks was “The Art Of War from their new album and the madness goes on! The audience – even though of a small number- made it to create a metal party atmosphere, that except from the fact that it surprised Sabaton (who saw what the Greek heavy metal audience is all about!) with its powerful response, it made it feel like it was a crowded –instead of an almost empty- venue! The singer Joakim Broden proved himself as an excellent frontman who kept encouraging the audience, climbing on some rails on the stage and hanging from the roof of the club, all making up an amazing stage appearance that not even the small stage of the venue could limit! From the song “40:1”, panic is the word to describe the situation in the club. Non-stop headbanging, an active audience singing along the choruses and a band “steamrolling” like a tank!...The moment of Cliffs Of Gallipoli  was one of the highlight moments, the band performed it perfectly and we received an indescribable feeling! “Attero Dominatus”, “Panzer Battalion”, “Primo Victoria were only some of the rest songs of a setlist that, in my opinion, must totally satisfied every single fan and made this a super concert!

Negative was the fact of the limited turnout. Sabaton showed us that they are a great band that knows what it means and how to play pure heavy metal to the maximum. It was not another one live show or simply a good live…It was a great heavy metal party full of energy that I believe the present fans will keep in their hearts and minds for a long time. A band that did its best, an audience that did its best, a concert to remember!
