Paul Gilbert
"Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar"
Label: Mascot Records
The new instrumental album of the guitarist who has amazed us with his guitar playing while his stint in Mr.Big as well as his solo albums, is finally released under the title “Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar” (quite a big title..!!)
Paul Gilbert, just like in his previous solo albums, has made an incredible job that just doesn’t let you pass it by. It is very hard to make an instrumental album that can nail you down from the very fist song and make you wanna listen to the rest of it and that is something that only a few guitar gods can achieve…
“Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar” includes 11 tracks and as Paul himself has said “it is the most sensational and creative musically album” that he has ever released. And I can’t agree more with that. He has put everything he knows and everything his mind has come up in his guitar playing. Of course, the cd can remind you at some points guitarists such as Satriani, Friedman and Μalmsteen but in his own “Paul Gilbert” way and sound.
The best tracks in my opinion are the το "Eudaimonia Overture", "Norwegian Cowbell" with its rock elements, while “The Cargoyle” is a track that easily brings Marty Friedman, without that meaning we underrate the rest tracks of the album.
The conclusion is that Paul’s new cd is a release that fans will definitely not find disappointing, musically speaking… |
