"Songs From The Sparkle Lounge"

Label: Universal

The news of Def Leppard releasing a new album had made the fans looking forward to it but also thinking of how and what that new album would be, after their discouraging studio album of 2002 "X". These 6 years that took the band to come back with new material (since 2006's "Yeah" was an album with covers) led to the creation of "Songs From The Sparkle Lounge". And if any of you wonder what sparkle lounge is, because I had the same question at first, it is a backstage area where Def Leppard sit and write ideas or even whole songs while on tour...and that is what they did during their last tour as well.

The album consists of 11 tracks, with catchy choruses and rhythm guitars that remind us of the "Adrenalize" era. The first single of the album "Nine Lives' also features american country singer Tim McGraw on a nice duet with Elliott. Pop elements are still present in Leps' work though much more limited than usual, since this time the band rocks for good.
The guitars and vocals are delivered in the classic, unique style of the band and, despite there is a lack of great riffs, we still spot two great hits, "Hallucinate" and especially "Bad Actress". Elliott, Savage, Collen, Allen and Campbell do their best in a decent and pleasant rock album, celebrating 30 years of the band with "songs from the sparkle lounge".

The album is also available in a digipack deluxe edition that includes also a DVD with documentary, behind the scenes footage, track by track guide by guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell and the video of "Nine Lives".
