Outloud
"We'll Rock You To Hell And Back Again"
Label: Frontiers
Coming out August of 2009 we got the debut album of Outloud. The band is made up of Firewind members Bob Katsionis and Mark Cross, singer Chandler Mogel from Talon, guitarist Tony Kash and Jason Mercury on bass. The project started up with Kash, as he is Katsionis’ guitar student, and he started writing some ideas for songs. After the band and the material was put together their next move was to give the recorded tracks to Tommy Hansen (Helloween) for mixing and mastering. Delivering eleven tracks of straight forward hard rock, here come Outloud. Upbeat and up in your face is how I would describe the first song “What I Need”. The second song “We Run” is bound to become the biggest hit on the album. It has a catchy chorus and slick melody lines. “Tonight” falls under the same category. The cliché of “Tonight” is the Bon Jovi-like keyboards that suggest “Runaway”. Most of the lyrics portray the bands energy and I believe it strengthens their album not to mention the great vocals of Mogel. “This Broken Heart” and “Lovesigh” are the only ballads on the album which is a plus because no one wants too many sappy songs when the rest of the album pumps you up. What you will hear on this album would be a blend of TNT, a little Tyketto and generally American Hard Rock with melodic elements to it. All the songs truly capture the hard rock essence and I really enjoyed it. I think Mogel did a fantastic job on vocals as I noticed a great improvement since the Talon album. Katsionis and Cross are quite the musical pair and as always their performance is flawless. And to the rest of the band, they keep the music flowing! They certainly aren’t kidding when they say “We Rock You to Hell and Back Again”! The album is full powered and inspiring hard rock that's gonna blow your mind. Thrusting guitars and high powered vocals with energized drumming is what the album is made of. We’re definitely talking about one of the best hard rock albums of 2009.
