"Evangelion"

Label: Nuclear Blast

Behemoth is one of the longest-running death-black groups. With a row of many successful albums, this year they are about to make a big explosion in their part. With their ninth disc ''Evangelion'', Polish death-black metallers give to the audience what it expects. They are also well-known about their worship for Greek mythology, history and philosophy and once again they give a Greek name not only to the album but to one of their songs (''Daimonos'') as well. Behemoth love symbolisms and interpretations and in this case they interpret etymologically the (Greek) word Evangelion, without wanting to give any religious meaning. So, the good news is spread -in an oxymoron way- by Behemoths’ demonic creations, who overcome again the limits of death and black music.

Unique in this extreme music kinds combination, they sacrifice themselves in this music ritual and are being more demon-strative than ever before. With this ''Evangelion'' the bands’ members still represent their beliefs, they have aggressive stance towards religion (despite the fact that Poland is one of the most religious countries), and they call us to believe in the god of ourselves. Resisting any kind of self-restrictions (as evil has no boundaries), they come back furious with a lot of anger and without a doubt this release makes them leaders in extreme metal. Nergal (vocals, guitar), founder and only remaining member of the original line-up, gives more speed to the guitars and he is inspiring from human being and ideals, love and hate, gods and demons. Orion (bass, guitar) follows as he gives his best and Inferno (drums) is being rewarded for his special petal abilities. Also, it is worth mentioning that the sound recording has been made by Daniel Bergstrand (In Flames, Meshuggah) in Sweden and  Colin Richards (Machine Head, Slipknot, Napalm Death) was responsible for the mixing. Some of the most powerful tracks of the record are ''Shemaforash'', ''He Who Breeds Pestilence'', ''Transmigrating Beyond Realms Ov Amenti'' (which reveals their technical sound). Furthermore, ''Ov Fire And The Void’’ definitely constitutes a mighty epic track that stands out, as well as ''The Seed Ov I'', cause we rarely hear the particular drum technique, something that it makes it unique. Behemoths’ music call ends with the anthem ''Lucifer'' that takes us to past times and its melody reveals many hidden “secrets”.

Over the ages the Polish members are being improved in composing and performing and with ''Evangelion'' they are getting closer to perfection! They return more aggressive and blasphemous than never and they can make the audience believe to what is listening. Releases like this make me proud for listening this kind of music, even though it is misunderstood.
