There are, truly, a lot of people out there that still enjoy this Irish trio and good for them! This is a very serious act from its first moments and despite lack of faith from the multinational experts due to their lack of beauty (???), they worked hard and maintain a strong following. Their appearance in this year’s Download fest is a proof for that.

“Crooked Timber” seems like a jam, considering the orchestrations but it’s dominated by a, somewhat, industrial sound. Check the bass sound and the drum rhythms in the CD majority and you’ll feel it. Everything else is in place: mature, quality, hard rock (not with its 80’s meaning, move on!), with dark intentions, smart choruses and ideal balance between punk and metal. Their followers won’t be disappointed.

Humanity’s crooked timber never produced something straight, Kant said. Therapy? From Ireland thought this phrase was so wise that created a whole album on this kind of lyrical themes. Indeed, it seems much more interesting when someone is his own (crooked) self than when he tries to adjust to (straight) paths created by others; so much for today’s music…
