"Visual Violence"

Label: Punishment 18

A thrash metal band from England isn’t something you hear often, is it? Pitiful Reign is thrash from their cover, which takes you 20 years back and proud of it!

Their first album (after some demos) by these lads is very energetic, with up tempo moods and love for their style. They are in the veins of Exodus, Anthrax and a voice like Sadus but their riffs don’t sound familiar. The co-producer, here is the mighty Steve Di Giorgio since we mentioned Sadus and the bass sound a big proof of his trademark style. Overall, they are more into the American thrash of the late 80’s but their origin differs them a lot from their ‘colonist’ competitors.

“Visual Violence” is a totally 80’s release and that causes a big question about its today place. Even if it’s more than decent and doesn’t sound like ‘the world’s largest tribute to…’, it fails to sound fresh. It will cause a lot of older fans to look for their old, white sneakers and will drive the younger, old-school thrashers mad!
