Seneca
"Reflections"
Label: Lifeforce Records
One more time I’m here to write about a band, whose members’ youth freshness and music skills in their first official taste of work (not an experimental one), make me prefer to wait and see their music journey in order to have a better point of view...
Seneca have been inspired from bands such as Between The Buried And Me, Misery Signals, The Devil Wears Prada, and with the security and sign of Lifeforce Records (Trivium,Caliban, Between The Buried And Me) and the mastering of Jamie King (Between The Burried And Me), Seneca from Charlotte of North Carolina have released their second full-length album "Reflections" (their first "Self-Titled" in 2006 was again produced by Jamie King and released through Divisional Media Records).
The album is a clear deathcore-emocore pattern with a combination of guttural and clear vocals from Corey Spencer in a way that suit very well as a body, but sometimes do not ("Carousels"). I don't thing that Seneca have to show us something different or special like other bands of the same range, except from the various tempo shifts, lead guitar bursts and riffs plenty of moshing. The 4th track is very powerful in reverse to the "Illusions'', a "beloved" one that fits perfectly to a "hot"boy-band such as North Carolina's sons, while the cover artwork by Mike Wohlberg is also very interesting. They band is currently touring in America.
Nothing less and nothing more from a band of youth that addresses to a specific public, except maybe from the chugging riffs and technical elements that ‘save’ the situation... |
