Neverland

"Reversing Time"

Label: AFM records

The project of Neverland is... an alternative way to approach our neighbors, another act of friendship between Greece and Turkey when the diplomacy fails day by day. It's about the cooperation between the Turkish progressive metallers Dreamtone and the sweet-voiced and skilled singer Iris Mavrakis.

We should especially mention the good job, which was made in the production and finally at the exceptional guests, who contributed by adding some lustre to this venture. These people are: Hansi Kursh(Blind Guardian), Tom England(Evergrey), Mike Baker and Gary Wehrkamp(Shadow Gallery). Along with them the philarmonic orchestra of Istanbul recorded parts in some tracks of the album .

The point is that now Neverland move inside the area of symphonic progressive metal along with Iris, who adds in their songs an ethereal note. The clear sound attempts to enact the dreamlike atmosphere, that Neverland want to put across the audience. There are some beautiful ideas at the instrumental and at the guitar vents.

On the other hand, you can observe many parts in which the songs' bonding is missing. Moreover, the pulse and the phrase changes do not sound so natural. This has as a result the confusion of the audience. I prefer their mid tempo moments, that are more than the usual ones because when the riff quickens the result is not the same... I loved the "Shooting Star", the fabulous ballad "Everlasting Tranquility" and of course the epic "Reversing Time".

Finally, the cd is a hopeful debut for the scene from musicians who must plan carefully their next step and settle their ideas in order to show off their quality even better.
