"Spirit Black"
Label: Frontiers Records
Only 1 year since Jorn Lande recorded “Lonely Are The Brave” he strikes back with a brand new album entitled Spirit Black”, a really interesting album in my opinion. I have to admit that’s not a kind of album that easily appreciated by the first time you hear it. This album reminds me a lot of the album “Aeronautics” he recorded with Masterplan. As far as the compositions, this album is a classic 80s Hard Rock album but with a modern heavy/power metal sound. Jorn’s producer Tommy Hansen of course played an important role in the perfection of the album’s sound. Tommy also played some keyboard on the album. The vocals were more than excellent, as of course we expect from a singer like Jorn. The hard rock/blue vocal lines in combination with his emotional lyrics make “Spirit Black” an album with a magical, atmospheric sound. And for those that think that after the release of a so well-worked album, it will take a long time for us to hear again from Jorn, I have to tell you that he recently announced that with the release of Spirit Black he will start working on the new Avantasia album that’s due to be released before the end of 2009. |
