Septic Flesh
"Communion"
Label: Seasons of Mist
As you probably know Septic Flesh is one of the best and most productive metal bands in Greece. After their last cd (Sumerian Daemons) in 2003, the members of the band went their separate ways and left a vast void in the scene which they came to fill up with their reunion in 2007 and with a whole new album in the high standards that Septic Flesh use to follow. So they start right from where they left things with this new release that has such a fresh sound but without turning their back to their past. Septic Flesh introduce us an album full of fantasy, mythology, occult themes with strong composite, oriental elements quite speedy some times and orchestral parts creating a mystic, cinematic atmosphere that travels you in space and time. This is because of the fact that the band has made a remarkable job working on the material that is also performed by the philharmonic orchestra of Prague conducted by Chris Antoniou. With a strong production, massive guitars' sound, hammering drums and demonic, brutal vocals we have a very good release from one of the leaders of the Greek metal scene.
I recommend this album to all fans - or not - by all odds as it is a very good specimen of dark, aggressive, atmospheric music that balances between black and death metal. |
