"House Of Dreams"

Label: Frontiers

In 2006 Joe Lynn Turner with his project Sunstorm had released an AOR album that was mind blowing. Songs that he had written in the past rose to the surface and had many AOR fans in awe. In 2009 we witness the second album “House of Dreams” which is, again, compiled of Joe Lynn Turner’s song that had been written in the 80’s, recorded and reached our ears this year. His team involved Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Khymera) for his production and studio skills, as well as bass and backing vocals, Jim Peterik (ex-Survivor, Pride of Lions) who also contributed in song writing, Uwe Reitenauer and Thorsten Koehne on guitars, Chris Schmidt on drums and Gunter Werno on keyboards.  Many great artists were involved in the making of this second album and each collaboration has made its mark.

The first song “Divided” is so dynamic and introduces the rest of the album in such a stunning way. The songs that have highlighted the album, in my opinion, are “Forever Now”, “Save a Place in your Heart”, “House of Dreams”, and “Say You Will”.  I don’t mean to rule out the rest of the album because every song is remarkable.  Furthermore, it was Serafino Perugino (President of Frontiers) that requested Joe Lynn Turner to add “his version” of the song “Walk On” which featured in Jimmy Barnes album in 1987.  Turner had co-written this song with Desmond Child and from there anyone can see that this is a guaranteed success.  Amongst the songwriters we see Tom and James Martin (House of Lords, Khymera).  They did a great job in making the songs correspond with the rest of the tracks that Turner wrote as well as Peterik.

Each song is unique and at the same time very Turner-esque.  This is a great follow up album and I’m sure if a third one comes out it can only get better without cancelling out the previous two.  This is a “can’t miss” album for all AOR/Melodic Rock fans out there.  For the Joe Lynn Turner fans…I don’t have to say it! Listen and enjoy and you will remember me.
