Buried Inside
"Spoils Of Failure"
Label: Relapse Records
After the successful album 'Chronoclast' (of 2005), which was signed by Relapse Records and marked the beginning of their cooperation and produced by Matt Bayles (Isis, Botch, Mastodon), Βuried Inside from Ottawa ,Canada, keep walking on familiar music paths with the inspiration from bands such as Neurosis, Isis, Old Man Gloom.
After 4 years of waiting, the Canadian Buried Inside make their comeback with their fourth full-length album produced by Converge's Kurt Ballou (Genghis Tron, Misery Index, Torche), labeled again by Relapse Records. In my opinion, I don't think that 'Spoils of Failure', with its 8 untitled songs lasting almost 54 minutes is a special album. It has however typical Buried Inside: Noisecore, Post Hardcore and sludge noise with the well-timed drumming from Godbout, with slow and mid-tempo meter enriched with atmospheric, melodic plus sludgy and dense riffs. The vocals are characteristic hardcore and distorted screamo, while quite noticeable are the semi-acoustic intros on tracks like 4 and 6.
Buried Inside knows very well how to create diverse senses from outburst and anger to traveling your mind and soul into other planets and spaces. For fans of Akon, Isis, Cult of Luna, Neurosis and Botch, Buried Inside will touch you for sure… |
