Bai Bang
"Are You Ready"
Label: Metal Heaven
Bai Bang, is a name that I have never heard before although they are not newcomers. Τhey exist for quite a long time in the music scene while they have an adventurous career and they come from Sweden. More analytically, they have already recorded and released 5 CD’s starting from 1989, fact that automatically can characterize them as veterans. Additionally, they have opened for an enormous number of groups such as Ratt, Motley Crue, Saxon, LA Guns, Wishbone Ash, Dio, Pretty Maids and others while they have played at the Wacken Open Air festival as well. The style of their music is Hard rock, sleaze and Heavy Rock ‘n Roll while their image has the same taste and according to the list of bands they have supported live, this can be consider as natural. But what really impressed me is the fact that they had performed live twice in places like the Whiskey a’Go-Go & the Cat Club in Los Angeles, and this is something that makes their cv more interesting, because the aforementioned places are being considered as the ‘Mecca’ of Hard rock & Sleaze. But I think that I have said enough for their past. Their new cd has 10 tracks, in the style of Hard Rock/ Sleaze, but with a breath of fresh air and a combination of classic tunings of the specific style. In other words, the 4 Swedish Rockers are vey fond of performing and rocking! Crystal clear and melodic vocals, tough guitars and a pounding rhythm section that can satisfy their fans from the very first hearing. In general, their music has the taste of a quieter Crashdiet but with more melody in the vocals and mid tempo guitar playing. The tracks are very well performed and the production is very good, fact that helped the overall result of the release. In that point, I would like to mention that the mastering had be done by Chris Lane (Soul Doctor), while at the ballad of the cd- ‘Only the best die young’ the solo is performed by Ryan Roxxie (Alice Cooper, Electric Boys) as a guest appearance Finally, this release is for all the fans of sleaze/Glam but in a more European version. As a last quote I would like to add a personal thought: excluding the aforementioned ballad, I was expecting to hear a track that would be a big hit for them, but again this is just a personal thought. |
