Unlight from Germany began in 1998 and only with last year’s “Eldest Born Of Hell” to convince Massacre to sign them. So their new, fourth CD also is from the German label. Their name, seen in at least 4-5 acts in the past, reminds of Marduk’s historic, second record “Those Of The Unlight”.

They, indeed, play manic black metal with a lot of speed and strength with an exceptional production. Besides Marduk they might remind you of Dark Funeral or some black / thrash bands. The antichristian themes help them express more aggression in their style. What they play isn’t bad but quite heard in the past.

Thanks to the strong performance feeling a fan of Swedish black metal might enjoy this. Maybe, if you are unable to make the innovation step in your style, giving everything you got is a one-way solution. It doesn’t necessarily justify your being as something more than a cover band. One way or another…
