Solna

"Eurameric"

Label: Wild Recordz

First of all come the introductions. Solna is a new project by the drummer and owner of the label which publishes the cd, Zane Petersen. The main name of the album is Pamela Moore, our well known Sister Mary from the unforgettable “Operation Mindcrime” of Queensryche ( I had the pleasure of listening to her live during the last two shows of the American progressive metallers in our country). But we don’t stop here. In some of the songs we listen to the singer of Primal Fear ( and ex  Gamma Ray) and also members from bands like Dokken, Sebastian Bach, Steve Vai and so on...The songs were written by two Swedish guys, Jan Akesson and Peter Grundstrom.

Musically the album tries to find its identity between hard rock, AOR and soft metal but things are not clear at all, which is not necessarily annoying. After all this is the weakness of the projects of this kind. They try to have a bit of everything inside. The voice of Pamela Moore is in very good shape and it still has this girlie melancholy that used to come out from her high-pitched notes. Ralph on the other hand is good but sings without emotion and seems not to be feeling it…He never stops to be a great singer though. The top tracks of the album are the powerful hard rock piece “Where Are You Running” and the up-lifting “moment Of Truth” both sung by Pamela and the power ballad  “Feel Alive” which features the two singers in a duet. I would be unfair if I didn’t highlight the great job made by the Italian guitarist Alex De Rosso in the cd, a cd which is rather uneven in the way that keeps your interest. In other words there are some indifferent songs. On the whole however it is a descent and interesting work.
