Nasty Idols
"Boys Town"
Label: Metal Heaven
One of the most legendary glam/sleaze European bands, particularly from Sweden, is back. As I have mentioned in my previous reviews, this genre really ‘blossoms’ the latest years in this country. Therefore, a Nasty Idols reunion and release from a band that made quite a noise during late ‘80s and early ‘90s was more than just expected. Especially their 1991 LP “Cruel Intentions’ was a great and really remarkable release…now for the rest of the decade, everybody knows the story for this and for so many other bands of this genre! Now, back to the point…the CD has the whole package, it lyrically rounds about the favorite subject ‘sex & drugs & rock ‘n’ roll’, more emphasized on rock ‘n’ roll, and musically it is all about the same old glam sleaze noise but through the ‘00s sound. Happy songs, fast and aggressive at times, like “Rock Out”, “Boys Out”, Method To My Madness” with “Evil One” as the highlight, a huge ‘speed bomb’ that rather surpasses glam/sleaze and someone could meet its chorus in a W.A.S.P. LP! You will believe me if you listen to it! The tempo of the CD generally doesn’t slow down and the tension keeps up through all its duration, with only exception the wonderful mid tempo “Nite Like This”. The attitude of the genre is obvious throughout the album.
To sum up this review, I need to add that this release is a must-have for every single fan of this genre and not only…I insist, listen to “Evil One” and you will get to the point!! This is definitely a release that will stand out in 2009 among others of its genre.
