"Score To A New Beginning"

Label: Napalm Records

Listening to this album, it literally left me astonished and breathless! From the moment I received the promo CD until right now, Fairyland’s new album, “Score To A New Beginning”, has become one with my CD player!

This is the third part of a trilogy, that Fairyland began with their first full length album of 2003 "Of Wars In Osyhria" and continued with their second album of 2006 "The Fall Of An Empire". As the name Fairyland inclines the concept of the whole project is all about tales, myths, mystery, magic, kings, etc. Blind Guardian elements, Nightwish-like orchestrations, all delivered with a sound similar to the soundtrack of an epic blockbuster! This is not simply another album; this is truly a symphonic power metal masterpiece! An
enchanting metal opera!

Mastermind of Fairyland is talented keyboardist Philippe Giordana, while vocals in the album are delivered by several singers, such as Marco Sandron (Pathospay), Elisa C. Martin (Dreamaker), Lars F. Larsen (Manticora), Georg Neuhauser (Serenity), and Flora Spinelli (Kerion).

The album kicks off with a 1:29-minute instrumental intro, while from the very fist track “Across The Endless Sea – Part II” (“part I” is in Fairyland’s previous album, “The Fall Of An Empire”), a torrent of melodies streams out of the speakers and take hold of your ears! Another fantastic song is “Assault Of The Shore”, one of the best moments in the album, with amazing instrumentation and a catchy chorus that make you wanna press the ‘repeat’ button again and again! Epics come the one after the other and although “Master Of the Waves” slows down a little bit, it definitely continues in the high quality as the rest songs. I will not go on with a track by track presentation (even though, it’d worth it), but I wouldn’t sum up without mentioning the total epic “A Soldier’s Letter”, the highlight of the album in my opinion, a power ballad in the vein of Blind Guardian, where words and further definitions are simply unnecessary. The ‘structure’ of the album is so gracefully built and in combination with the divine compositions there is absolutely no way that you will find any weakness in there.

“Score To A New Beginning” is a magical journey to fantasy lands, reflected in an excellent and seldom way in this symphonic power metal album. If Blind Guardian released this album today, we would be talking about a revival of the genre. Fairyland is a promising band that requires your attention and support because it simply deserves it!

An album that the fans of the genre should not miss! A new journey into magic and myths has just began…
