Mind Odyssey
"Time To Change It"
Label: Napalm Records
After a long time absence and distinctly a whole decade, Mind Odyssey release their fifth studio album. I don’t know how many people were waiting for this reunion, but I can remember that they had a good name in the prog power genre. Although, I remember also that there was a second opinion about Mind Odyssey advocated that was an overrated group. Me, as detached, because I didn’t have heard their previous cds, I heard the new album with extra concern. An album which is successfully introduced by their record company, as melodic metal, a genre that the last years gave us many outstanding releases.
Despite the perfect production and the interesting concept that firstly gave me a good impression, ‘Time to change it’ unfortunately can’t be in the category of the important metal releases. It’s not a bad album, but it is an album with extremely disinterested compositions, and as a result, after many listens the only thing that I remember is the annoying voice of their singer. In a total of 10 songs there are only 2-3 that are remarkable (I want it all, Face in the rain p.e.). In all the other songs, are some good ideas and melodies but the final result isn’t something noticeable and if there was a contest with other recent melodic metal releases participating then this album would lose easily. |
