Bruce Springsteen
"Working On A Dream"
Label: Sony Music
Huge Bruce Springsteen is back again!!! Almost two years after the exceptional “Magic” album, the ‘boss’ returns with an album in which E-Street Band’s role should be determinative. At this point, we ought to mention the loss of one of the original members of the E-Street Band, Mr. Dani Federici, within last year.
So, the beginning of the album is very powerful and it comes with probably one of the best songs that Springsteen has ever written, the 8-minute long “Outlaw Pete”, a song that inclines you about a super release! Up to the half of the album, songs like “My Lucky Day”, “Working on a Dream”, “Queen Of The Supermarket”, “What Love Can Do” and “This Life” bring out the high level of compositions as well as performances. The second half of the album is slowing down a little and it is starting to remind of Bruce’s several works during the 90’s. I don’t mean something bad by that, as those works had their great moments as well, it’s just that after “Magic” and the promises it made, the expectations only grew bigger and bigger.
To sum up, I need to say this: This is the new album from a huge rock icon…The quality level is over the top…The boss has returned…It is a must have release, not for historical reason only but because it has a lot to say!!! Not like “Magic” though, yet it has a lot to say!!!
P.S.: Some friends of mine are planning to visit soon a European city in order to watch and enjoy a live concert of this talented and charismatic artist…Due to engagements, I will not be able to travel with them...Through this article, I‘d like to wish them ‘have a great time with the ‘boss’!!!
