Pro-Pain
"No End In Sight"
Label: Soulfood/ Rawhead Inc.
Unfortunately, Pro-Pain’s 11th effort was doomed to be their worst to date. This is the group that’s presented one of the best shows in Greece in the category of venues up to 150 people; it was their 2 legendary performances for the “Act Of God” tour, supported by Pissing Razors and Iron Monkey!!! At that awful place they managed to deliver all the force and adrenaline their crossover between hardcore and thrash metal offers. Here it sounds unwilling.
Their previous releases after “Act Of God” yearned for an album to the rescue of their artistic (not commercial necessarily…) career. Besides 2-3 tracks they seemed bored. Their music has also lost the final element that kept them alive until now: strength!
Their mixture of hardcore, metal & rock ‘n’ roll has surfaced some melodic punk and even some power metal shit (in the ways of Avenged Sevenfold or Killswitch Engage). Neither the shitty refrains nor the moments we’re so sick of hearing by them help the very few good ideas. The typical, weak vocals they stabilized after “Round 6” have filled most of the tracks in the new CD. In combination with the light-hearted riffs they offer one of this year’s weakest meals!
Insufficient exception is “Phoenix Rising”. You’d better find their ’90s stuff if you haven’t heard of them. And I hope I have their end in sight … |
