Jennie Tebler's Out of Oblivion
"Till Death Tear Us Part"
Label: Black Mark
Jennie Tebler is a young Swedish singer who has done guest vocals for Lake Of Tears and has released 2 singles with her older brother Mr Tomas Försberg! Did you get it? Yeap! This was the mighty Quorthon but since he’s gone for 4 years now this album has nothing to do with him or any of his releases.
Jennie’s debut with the band Out Of Oblivion is very boring. There might be some relevance to what was going on in the singles but this is a brand new band that couldn’t by any means be compared to Quorthon (who played everything in the singles). The CD is down-tempo the whole time reminding of Katatonia, Lake Of Tears, The Gathering, Samael or even some older Tiamat but since it’s female-fronted…it lacks guts! It has no nerve, no strength, no feeling. It leaves the impression of players who didn’t want to hurt their instruments during the recording sessions. They could have done it acoustic! Other than that the lyrics are mostly about girls who feel unhappy because of their boyfriends so… no comments! Not to mention the monotonous voice that Jennie has!
In few words, maybe several girls who enjoy this so called gothic/metal mixture with female vocals can find here some interest. Still this album lacks any chance of being remembered in the future as one of the genre’s good efforts. Don’t forget that this genre in the end died due to its undistinguished releases…
