Vengeance
"Soul Collector"
Label: Metal Heaven
Third post-reunion album and 8th of its history for the veteran act of Dutchmen Vengeance. You just can't keep a good band down...? They deliver a fine specimen of well oiled, traditional hard rock/heavy metal in the vein of Victory, Accept, Mad Max and other German 80s bands. ‘Soul Collector’, their latest endeavour, produced by Michael Voss (Mad Max, Bonfire) proves that they are at the top of their latest years form, as most of the 11 songs are in a very good level. Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon), Mat Sinner, Angel Schleifer (Bonfire) και Michael Voss (Casanova) have pitched in, composing several of the album's tracks. After the 3 impressive first songs, follows ‘What The Hell Is Going On’, a really touching ballad. Even though the album fails to get better with each song, a couple of weak spots do not put the whole album in a fog. Vengeance are not being original with their new stuff, and why should they, since all the ingredients of good hard rock are present? The point is to have good ideas and in this sector, in this year’s album “Soul Collector”, they get on just great and they will definitely satisfy all those who have been supporting them for the last 25 years.
