Kingdragon
"Fire In The Sky" (EP)
Label: KD/Zar Music
Kingdragon are a pure melodic hard rock band, something extremely rare for the Greek music scene, and have made their presence in the studio, as well as performing live, supporting Gotthard and Firehouse. George Aspitiotis (ex Spitfire, Nightfall, Raw Silk) and the rest of the band have given a great effort to release their mini-cd “Fire in the Sky” where a full length album is soon to follow.
The cd contains four original tracks titled “Fire in the Sky”, “Man of Yesterday”, “Hold on 2 Love” and “Lovely Lady”. Everything that a melodic rock fan would expect to hear are found in here: melodies that combine the classic sounds of melodic rock with modern. Something in comparison would be House of Lords and Drive She Said as well as Gotthard and Brother Firetribe. Worthy song arrangements that blend all the “must” elements of a respectable melodic rock album such as full backing vocals, intros with keyboards and vocalizations etc. These four track are on a good level of quality and special recognitions should go to the vocals of George Aspiotis which has great potential (something that is hard to find in the specific genre of music) and he doesn’t suffer from a heavy Greek accent (unfortunately most Greek bands do). The guitar is also good with its fast shredding solos and solid riff and licks. The keyboards are a basic ingredient in the identity of the songs with its right sounds. It is worth mentioning that the production is fairly good for Greek standards.
Kingdragon are one of the few bands in Greece to take up an active role in the melodic rock area and we can only hope that they will have more recognition on an international level with a contract to back them up. Anyone can tell that they work hard or this and it’s heard loud and clear. This should be a good example and start for more melodic rock bands in Greece to rise.
