36 Crazyfists
"The Tide & Its Takers"
Label: Ferret
36 Crazyfists started playing in Alaska (!) 14 years ago. They returned to their hometown Portland where they are still based. All Jackie Chan fans should have figured out by now where their weird name comes from. “The Tide & Its Takers” is their fourth full-length effort and is released through Ferret…
…A name combined with emo/metal, metalcore etc referring to bands with this particular modern sound with groovy parts, mood & rhythm changes with equal parts of melodic and harsh vocals. So not much for Greek metal fans! Ok! I guess younger metal fans enjoy a lot of this stuff and to be honest this is one of the best CDs I’ve heard this year in this genre. How could it be different since this band is one of the oldest that mixed emocore with modern metal? A band that had already released 3 CDs (two of which were mini CDs) independently before signing to Roadrunner Records 8 years ago! A band that doesn’t offer the same stuff with each release and either you (or me!) like it or not is doing a good job in what they are into.
In addition to the good music they’ve put here, Mr Andy Sneap offers them his larger than life sound and us a guarantee of what we are about to hear. I might despise this music style but the 36 Crazyfists are probably the finest band around.
