"Immortal"

Label: Frontiers

The voice of Magnum, Bob Catley comes back with his sixth solo album under the title “Immortal” which is another important moment in his successful career. Especially after a release like “Spirit Of Man” he couldn’t return with something less powerful and “Immortal” simply confirms this expectation.

Main associates of Bob Catley in this release are: Magnus Karlsson (Starbreaker, Primal Fear, Allen/Lande), who has written all the tracks and does the keyboards while only one guitar solo, Dennis Ward Pink Cream 69, Khymera) on bass, some keyboards and on production, Uwe Reitenauer (Pink Cream 69, Place Vendome) on guitars and Dirk Bruinenberg (Elegy, Adagio) on drums. Karlsson’s songs and Catley’s magical voice wrapped by the exceptional musical performance result in this much more than simply decent release.

Bob Catley’s name is connected to melodies in everybody’s mind and melodies are the trademark of “Immortal” as well. Fact
is that the sound is heavier (in terms of melodic hard rock) than what the unique frontman has given us so far, however it is not a tremendous difference or surprise. The album opens with the amazing Dreamers UniteκαιWe Are Immortal” – both tracks with an epic, melodic intro, powerful riffs and an amazing performance from Catley (as usual…) that give us a hint of what the album is about…“Open Your Eyes”, “Light Up My Way”, “You Are My Star”, “War In Heaven”, “Heat Of Passion”, a feast of melody, orchestration and performance which is exactly what we expect from such professionals and experienced musicians. Of course, all 12 tracks of the album are of the same (high) level and contribute to this overall integral album.

I bet the fans don’t expect from us to prompt them to get “Immortal”...as far as the rest of you we definitely suggest audition…the storyteller has something to tell you…
