Ligeia
"Bad News"
Label: Ferret
Massachusetts (the state where Boston is…) is known for its punk/hardcore scene that produced some melodic cult bands after the late ’70s with ‘Mission Of Burma’ being the biggest one. Since then a lot of artists followed the melodic guitar sounds of this area and produced very special works.
New Jersey’s label company ‘Ferret’ has presented many East Coast bands like ‘Burnt By The Sun’, ‘Killswitch Engage’, ‘Funeral For A Friend’ and many more, while now she releases stuff from ‘Zao’, ‘Madball’, Chimaira’ and MA’s ‘Ligeia’! The band must feel very proud and release their second album full of expectations…
Bad thing is that they offer the worst: more emo metal! Metalcore wannabes? False hardcore-like vocals with melodic ‘gay’ ones? I don’t know how someone will react to this but I just can’t stand these bands anymore. I can’t stand it when a song begins somewhat aggressively and suddenly the emo voice takes over! There’s nothing against melodic stuff here. I just hate this crossover between emo and metal and I’m willing to do whatever possible to stop these bands!
‘Ligeia’ will sound common at least to fans of this genre. I heard a couple of good ideas but hardly managed to listen to this CD twice just for this review’s sake! Come on you guys! How the hell can you listen to a band that acts like macho but sensitive type of men as well??? You losers! I’ll go and listen to the new ‘Slipknot’ once more to calm down… |
