Elite
"We Own The Mountains"
Label: Folter
I’ve told these things when talking about ‘Svartahrid’ & I’ll repeat them now with a few different things. Traditional black metal is nice but just for its fans. Norway’s ‘Elite’ add one more album for fans of ’90s black metal with their third effort.
Their production here is quite improved from their previous CDs adding, however, the northern, freezing sound that they want to express. They are so traditional; ‘Darkthrone’ rhythms on drums, Norwegian lyrics about frozen mountains of their land and… needless to add something else. We’ve heard all these so many times that don’t drive us crazy anymore.
Guys in ‘Elite’ you’re secondary to this sound. Even compared to ‘Svartahrid’ you lose! I couldn’t find interest in your CD & the only things that made a difference were a thrash part and the acoustic outro that remained still uninteresting!
Whoever knows this band from their previous material and likes them might find this CD production kind of different than their past ones but no musical differences. Others will probably forget them after listening once.
