Europe
"Almost Unplugged"
Label: Hell & Back
This is the new release from Europe, and the title is crystal clear! “Αlmost Unplugged”, which means acoustic guitars with the addition of some electric, percussion and unique performances in classic songs of the band and in beloved tracks that inspired them through out the years.
And the result is a cd that is really good. Europe appear like you have never hear them before, a storm of accurate performing and true feelings through the live. I wasn’t expecting to hear the same old songs played in the same order, on the contrary, I heard a bunch of fellow musicians who really had the best time of their lives, giving the best of their talent, with maturity and timing experience. I was living the ultimate live experience, it felt like I was there and through mixed emotions I enjoyed that masterpiece, while John Norum kept on surprising me with his talent. Joey was in very good mood, proving why Europe still remains a great band that knows exactly how to play its music. They were not afraid to show their inspirations, by playing some covers such as “Wish You Were Here” -Pink Floyd, “Suicide” –Thin Lizzy, “Love to Love”- UFO, along with their own hits, after all those glory years in the music stardom. You must know that all the tracks were played, lets say, in a “free style” and in some cases they are not directly recognized. “Got to Have Faith”, “Τhe Final Countdown”, “Yesterday’s News”, are some of the characteristic tracks of the release.
In brief that release is a must have for all the friends of the band and for all the friends of good music and performing in general.
I wish I was there …
