Scar Symmetry

"Holographic Universe"

Label: Nuclear Blast

For those who need a definition of the style of the band, because they may not be familiar with them,  because this is their third cd in only 3 years, Scar Symmetry play melodic progressive death metal . In order  to be free from labeling their music though, I can tell you that this Swedish act plays what I like to call “intelligent metal”. I do not use this term  to describe some progressive showing-off or difficult-to-catch technical manoeuvres, not at all! A far as I am concerned,” progressive is to keep it simple and less is more…” What I mean is that their songs are the result of an integrated artistic thought and they challenge you to listen to them and understand them, to see the spine of their creation and break them down to the elements they are made of: Thus, dark melodies, futuristic and sci-fi lyrical approach , cuts and changes of pace, altering of brutal  with clear multi-phonic choruses, which are very commercial sometimes and open the door to a bigger audience than the traditional melodic death fans.

“Holographic Universe” is an album you can easily listen from tha beginning until the end without problem, due to its atmosphere that connects it and personalizes it. The songs are other times aggressive and other times more theatrical and majestic. The most important thing is that the songs give the sense of unity. The cd in this way is very complete.

In conclusion, Scar Symmetry present to us a music proposal that connects progressive with the- almost legendary by now- Gothenburg scene. And they are for sure among the most uprising and hope-bringing innovators of this sound. I support you guys!
