"Sharing Space"

Label: Superball

It’s one of the world underground’s best hidden secrets. It’s also probably their first effort (overall second full-length) that’s being released worldwide. They come from Sydney, Australia and they ‘re already big there with entrances in the independent –in their first EPs and debut CD- and main charts of their country! They have also toured extensively in Australia and around with a tour for almost the whole part of 2006!

They rose from the ashes of a stoner act named ‘Hanging Tree’ and this may add its own touch to their album. They are somewhere among ‘Porcupine Tree’, ‘Tool’, ‘Coheed & Cambria’, ‘The Mars Volta’, they remind ‘Magellan’ (!) sometimes, but if you listen to them you’ll realize they are unique! They walk next to all acts mentioned but they compose their own progressive hard rock music perfectly executed, without over-the-top attitude, with great melodic parts but non commercial refrains. This reminds me kind of ‘Rush’ way in songwriting and style. They are a threesome also…

Believe in this act. Listen to all their previous –all of them stunning- efforts. You’ll find some of the strongest vocal interpretations (neither screams nor high octaves…) and lines, some of the best musical moments for this year (or should I say decade???) and one of the best-shaped acts out there. If you get tired by ‘Tool’ long repetitive parts, if you find ‘Coheed & Cambria’ vocals kind of emo, if you would like ‘The Mars Volta’ more comprehensible, give these Australians a chance. The time for Europe to get to know them better has come…
