Sonic Syndicate
"Love And Other Disasters"
Label: Nuclear Blast
Sonic Syndicate present to us their third album and second for the label of Nuclear Blast. Let’s introduce them to those who are not familiar with their music, because we are dealing with a young band in spite of their being technically flawless. Sonic Syndicate are from Sweden and in the band we notice the co-existence of three brothers, the brothers Sjunnensson, something which is very interesting, don’t you think? Except for that, they are well known for their beautiful female bassist but we would not do justice to her if we remained to that characterization, because se rocks equally well with the other guys and has a really cool stage appearance.
Musically speaking, Sonic Syndicate are children of In Flames, something that is very pleasing to me... I could say that in some parts they reminded me of the In Flames’ playing back in the period of “Reroute To Remain”. It is not by accident that they tour with them as we are speaking. The masters and the apprentices together and surely this is a package I would like to see live in Greece. In some other parts they recall of Bullet For My Valentine (maybe it is also the image of some of the members to blame...) and generally the modern metalcore scene.
In a nutshell, the new album is made of the following: sharp riffs mingling with almost sweet melodies, aggressive vocals with very often changes to clean ones, keyboards that play an important role and the melodic element which prevails in the end I think. The most interesting songs would be “Jack of Diamonds” (check out the video clip for this one), “Contradiction” and “Damage Control”. For the fans of this sound there is no doubt that they are a safe choice, for those who want to come in touch with a typical modern metal band, they are a good proposal. From Sonic Syndicate, we expect not only to satisfy us with their next album. That wouldn’t be enough. We expect them to excite us…
