"The Healing"
Label: Napalm Records
Ever since I can remember this Austrian label they seem to follow changes. Never lead them. They’ve been discovering bands that are ‘in fashion’ and sign them. They had, although, a big stuck in the female melodic metal (mistakenly named atmospheric) and produced stuff that not even female fans would actually listen to!
As for this Austrian act’s debut, what can I say? It has strong sound, nice performing (as almost every release nowadays) but up to that. There is not one single interesting moment, it’s as cliché and boring it can get, following the metalcore genre that’s been dominating the scene for the last 4-5 years. That’s my reason for calling them ‘followers’… These riffs are already being performed for some years now by Chimaira or Lamb Of God i.e., in a much better way, more inspired and without including ridiculous covers like the one here in ‘Coolio’ ’s “Gangsta’s Paradise” (a success back in 1995’s “Dangerous Minds” film with Michelle Pfeiffer –now isn’t that awful???). The phrase ‘modern metal’ on the back sleeve is ‘cherry on top’…
But you have to listen to the 10th track “Kontrol” where the ‘Disturbed’ vocal steals (from the “Voices” beginning) are combined with some tragic alike ones and realize how untalented these guys are!! The legend of the old bridge in the Greek city of Arta (!) said that it was built all day but fell apart at night. The only way to keep it still was by a sacrifice in its foundations. Should we use Artas for that cause??? |
