"When Kaleidoscopes Collide"
Label: AOR Heaven
This is a new release from AOR HEAVEN of a very promising duet from Sweden: Johan Bergquist on Vocals, Keyboards, Bass & Andreas Brodén on Guitars, Drums. They were friends since high school but during the years they followed different musical paths as members of the progsters -Scenario and the Swedish metal/hard rock band M.ill.ion respectively, until they decided to join their forces for this project. As it seems the North Scandinavian countries have a tradition to melodic Hard Rock and this is a fact that is proved for one more time with this release.
From the beginning, I have a pleasant surprise since the sound seems familiar like Journey, more specifically the melodic line and touch of the singer is exactly the same (in my opinion always) as Greg‘s Rollie (founding member-Keyboard-singer-of Journey), hint that is remarkable and makes me anticipated for the rest of the cd.
The taste of the songs can only be characterized as pure AOR in 2008, catchy, memorable and melodic couplets that stick with you all the time, while the rhythm section performs the appropriate performance without any excesses. At the same time special credits must be given to the overall production and performance. I mention that because it is known from everyone how difficult it is for a band to achieve a high level of performance for this kind of music. I personally noticed a perfect harmony in between guitar parts and keys, while the vocals dominate the songs and make it distinguish. The tracks are well performed by Johan & Andreas, proving their talent with the best way...
More analytically the cd starts with “This Heart of mine”, which makes definite the taste of the band, while the next one “Say if you want” has a characteristic couplet that makes it memorable. Shooting star is the track that we will remember for a long time, nice “bridges” and memorable couplet. In general all the tracks are in the same high level.
I believe that Elevener make an impressive entrance in the music industry with that release and soon will be in top ranking of AOR. This cd is a must have for every fan of this kind.
Keep up the Good work!
