Motley Crue
"Saints Of Los Angeles"
Label: Motley Records
Motley Crue are back!!! After almost nine years, it was about time for Motley Crue’s ninth studio album. Crue has always been the band that the private lives of its members were affecting their music, the things between them and with women, the abuse, the withdrawal, again the abuse etc. These are things that we all know more or less. Their new album should be carefully listened...and I am getting right to the point... First of all, this is the best Motley Crue album ever since the Corabi era (1994), that I had found at least exceptional although experimental for the style of the band. So, the first audition of the album will not probably electrify most of you, since its connection with the older albums (Dr. Feelgood etc.), is only obvious on two or three Motley classics (“What it’s Gonna Take”, “Down at the Whisky” and “Chicks=Trouble”). Then on, the thing is this: someone could say that this sounds a little bit like Hardcore Superstar but with Motley Crue’s experience (which means the whole Hollywood). Even if that puzzles you, when you listen to the album for the second time, the doubts will start disappearing and the show will begin. Songs, lyrics and titles like “Motherfucker of the year”, “This ain’t a love song (it’s just a fuck song)”, “Face down in the dirt”, “White Trash circus”, “Goin’ out Swingin’, rock so much that many bands would envy them. Special reference deserves “The Animal In Me” and also the first single of the album, the title track “Saints Of Los Angeles”, that has also become a fantastic video clip that also features Buckcherry’s singer. No need to mention anything about the production, it’s just great. And so are the photos in the booklet… Simple things…Motley Crue are back!!! |
