Bloodbound
"Unholy Cross"
Label: AFM Records
I think that Sweden must be recognized as hard rock/heavy metal’s capital at least for the last decade. Furthermore, I don’t think it’s accidental the fact that at least the 50% of the good new releases the last years are coming from that Scandinavian country. One more very good band is Bloodbound. A band, that even they release now their fourth studio L.P., it’s the very first time that I listen something from them.
A glance on the cult front cover suffices to imagine the band’s sound. Traditional melodic heavy/power metal with high sing-along value and the neck can get its necessary banging exercise from the first seconds. The basic favourite elements of a true metalhead are here, and when they are being combined with good compositions the absence of novelties is one more opposite option. The band changed its line-up once again, and now the microphone belongs to Patrick Johansson who replaced Urban Breed (Tad Morose). The group plays heavy metal from its heart and if they manage to control the problems with the line up changes surely we can expect even better things from them in the future. Until then, you can enjoy an album with great songs like the opener “Moria” or the title track among others. “Unholy Cross” is highly recommended not only to the fans of bands like Primal Fear, Hammerfall, Tad Morose, but to everyone who really likes pure heavy metal sound.
