Sun of Nothing
"The Guilt of Feeling Alive"
Label: Catch The Soap
I feel so proud for Sun of Nothing and the fact that they come from Greece. They are a band which I heard before the release of their debut and had the luck to watch them live several times. They had two impressive performances supporting Electric Wizard and Burst; also their two albums were impressive for the Greek scene since they showed a band unlike anyone else! The inhaling voice and the balance between post and sludge metal that weren’t heard before their arrival –awesome to say this for a Greek metal band- are the trademarks we can find in their third CD. Their full of darkness and pessimism sound and their original, for the Greek scene, ideas in production and orchestrations are present, too. You might find a bit more melody parts replacing their blast beats which brought all their black metal influences ahead and made them more aggressive. However, their hybrid sounds stronger since it’s becoming one piece while the aggression through speed was never their characteristic. If you’re interested in listening something which combines the Burzum desperation, the Eyehategod muddy filth and the Isis melancholy you’ll be rewarded extra by “The Guilt Of Feeling Alive”. The four tracks (average length 9 minutes!!) and the intro are the best stuff you’ll listen to this winter. This is the logical follow up to the “…In The Weak & The Wounded” and an album that many would lose their words if released in a colder country!
