Deathspell Omega
"Paracletus"
Label: Norma Evangelium Diaboli / Season of Mist
After their last album (successfully characterized as ultra-aggressive) the expectations on this one were very high. The French mystery – act with the Finnish vocalist shocked the black metal communion with their originality in style and their enormous in length EP tracks showed even more their personal stigma. Paracletus is ready to leave everyone in similar shocking conditions. Their music has evolved even more, the vocals are more passionate and expressive while the tracks are somewhat shorter in length and more concrete. Their amazing, paranoid riffing and the supersonic tempos remain some of the best moments of today’s black metal. All of their material is much higher than the piles of coping bands that fill the record stores. Since Leviathan don’t seem to be active this year, “Paracletus” will be the top black metal release of the year. We’re talking about a very ‘dark’, satanic, aggressive album, demanded by the genre’s traditions and the radical ideas that refresh this genre once more. Deathspell Omega is thee who arrived to bring “Apokatastasis Panton” (putting everything in place in Greek!) around. Truly majestic!
