Magnum
"Wings Of Heaven Live"
Label: SPV
…And they’re back! Magnum has released yet another live album and its rocking strong! For those who do not know, “Wings of Heaven” is one of their best selling albums and it was released 20 years ago. This double CD features all songs from “Wings of Heaven” and some of their other classics such as “Vigilante”, “How Far Jerusalem”, and even “Kingdom of Madness”.
The first part of the live contains some of Magnum’s all time favorites and more commercial headed songs. Starting the show with “When We Were Younger” is absolutely chilling. The band does a great job in adding new musical parts to their songs (e.g “How Far Jerusalem”) to spice up the stage with their obvious musical talent that has rocked our world for over 20 years. Bob Catley’s vocals are still good and intact although there is some wearing out detected throughout the playlist…probably noticeable only to my ears. In the second part of the show they play the “Wings of Heaven” album as you might have guessed. You know the songs; you feel the songs, and nothing less is to be expected of the band’s live show than being the best. Such passion can be heard in the unforgettable melodies of “It Must’ve Been Love” and “Wild Swan”.
There is little I can say about this live release. Outstanding performance and energetic to the fullest where one can envision the show by just closing your eyes and listen. |
