"Heading Northe"

Label: Dockyard 1

Stormwarrior are back with a new album – their third in the row- and at the very first sound of it pleasure chills got all over me! For those who don’t know Stormwarrior, it is an epic-power band, something like a Gamma Ray, Helloween (early days) and Manowar medley ispired by Vikings’ mythology. Delightful, european epic-power metal, "Heading Northe" is an album that you should consider.

The singer’s performance sounds too much like Kai Hansen’s and that makes sense as Kai is their main influence. By the way, during the first steps of the band back in 2002 and after 2 demos, Stormwarrior made it to win their idol’s –as they call him- Kai Hansen’s attention and recorded their debut "Stormwarrior" of 2002 with him. On the other hand, this resemblance to Hansen’s style might make some people bridle, but I think that the quality of the songs overcomes this fact so it doesn’t really bother.

Powerful riffs, wonderful choruses, epic-power full metal full of energy, just like it should be! From the title track and opening one "Heading Northe" till the end of the album with "And The Valkyries Ride" there is no weak moment. The album keeps the enthusiasm at the same level from the beginning to the end.

Stormwarrior is the best band that I have heard along with with Bloodbound in the power metal genre the last few years. If more bands follow their example, the renaissance of power metal looks bright. "Heading Northe" is an album that I recommend by all means!
