"Dream To Dream"

Label: Frontiers Records

Stan Bush is an American songwriter/singer who is famous for his music in many soundtracks in the ‘80s till up to date. He has released 13 albums so far, including his latest work titled ““Dream the Dream”. Stan Bush’s music belongs to the genre of Melodic rock/AOR and of course it doesn’t change with his latest release. It starts with «Never Hold Back»,with its exciting chorus, but he has written many better than that in the past.

Second song is «I’m still here», in which he reminds us that he is still here to rock our world after 30 years. At last the time has come for the great moment of the album : « Don’t give up on Love». With the melodic riff of Holger Fath’s guitar and its catchy refrain, it encourages us not to give up on love. This song is the  first one that really got stuck in my head. Right after follows «Two Hearts», which totally grabs by the throat, a song that we very well come from a soundtrack of A Sylvester Stallone movie. Again, the basic part in this song, except from the vocal lines, hold the guitar melodies. The Cd continues with a ballad that starts with a piano intro, not really one of the best he has composed.

Fortunately the next track is a composition that will be included in all the future AOR compilations in the following year titled «Love is the road». It includes a very melodic couple and a refrain that you just can’t get out of your mind. The guitar plays multiple themes and many different and small in duration solos. After this monumental song comes a very Bryan Adams like track. It is fairly good with heavy guitar parts and again a mind blowing chorus.

The self titled song is another AOR hymn, just listen to it and you will know what I am talking about (another candidate for an AOR car collection). «More than a miracle» and 80’s AOR is back for good, this time not with such an impressive refrain, but with a very good vocal performance by Stan, whose voice still makes me shiver. “Your Time” reminded me of the recent mediocre works of  Bon Jovi. “All that I am” makes me wonder if it is an autobiographical song, but after a couple of hearings I realized it is most likely written for one of the loves of his life. As a song though is doesn’t have much to offer. Last song of the album is the theme of “Touch” by the Transformers movie of 2007.

In conclusion, the albums is at a high level, though it does not reach the quality of the 80’s. Still it is one of those albums that get stuck in out CD players for a long time. I must mention the excellent production helps the songs really stand out .The fans of this genre will definitely not regret its buy.
