White Lion Return of the Pride Label: Frontiers
White Lion are back...or not? Well, it's 2008 and they are releasing the "Return of the Pride", a title that takes you back to the memorable "Pride" of 1987, 21 years back. So, what do these 2 albums have in common? Or should I say do we mind if they have something in common or not?
The truth is that when I first listened to the album I missed Vito Bratta. I am saying this because every time someone talks about White Lion - apart from Mike Tramp - it brings in everybody's mind this talented guitarist who gave his best with all his great music and melodies in the past. My point is that when the rumor about White Lion's reunion spread out, everybody asked "with Bratta??". Mike Tramp's answer to a relevant question (during an interview that he gave to us and which you can enjoy at the "interviews section" of Solid Rock) was rather disarming!!!
During the past years, Mike Tramp has delivered some decent albums and "Return of the Pride" is a natural sequel. The album has it all. The songs are really good and pretty much elevated. Of course, what certainly remains is that it could as well be one more solo album of the talented singer, another good album and nothing more.
Nevertheless, I suggest that you invest on this effort. After the interview that Mike Tramp gave to us, I saw his passion to create music and not make fast steps following well known paths like many others have already done and of course I'm referring to the well tested way of a reunion of older bands that has happened quite often up to now. |
