Seventh Avenue
"Terium"
Label: Massacre Records
The first time I ever came across Seventh Avenue was when their last album called "Terium" fell into my hands. The German band has existed since 1995 in discography, although clearly as a band it has existed since 1989, and "Terium" is their sixth studio album.
Seventh Avenue play classic heavy metal with many power and some speed elements attached on religious lyrics, so they rank further in christian metal. All the above are quite obvious in this last album as well. "Terium" is a concept album about how the Saviour would be in another planet. Double guitar solos flow one after another and keyboards are quite noticeable as well as Herbie Langhans's voice that has the ability to change its "colour" here and there in the album. The album consists of 15 songs, something that some of you may find rather tiring since there's actually nothing new or overwhelming in the album, despite the fact that songs are very melodic and pleasant and "ravel" around the concept. Expert Sascha Paeth delivers the production and I admit that the album reminds me a little bit of Heaven's Gate, although it lacks the originality of the last ones'.
"Terium" is a good album in general that is worth of listening, especially if the lyrics intrigue you, with some good but also a thousand times played moments. |
