Eric Gales
"The Story Of My Life"
Label: Shrapel Records Inc/Provogue Records BV
Eric Gales is an accomplished guitarist that has been around the music business since 1991 which is when his debut album came out, titled "The Eric Gales Band". Throughout the years he's gotten eight albums out (including this new one) and a bunch of projects that he's involved himself in. He is often identified as the next best thing after Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix. Although his influences are evident Eric Gales has made his blend of inspiration into something to call his own.
Introduction song is called "Save Yourself" and it definitely falls under the category of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jeff Beck. Throughout the album we can hear the timeless classic blues traits with a modern sound and effects. Songs on the album that are somewhat noticeable is "The Story of My Life", "The Sound of Electric Guitar", "Red, White and Blues"(main electric riff sounds very much like Hendrix), "Cut and Run" and the final song "Gypsy". The vocal lines give the classic blues attribute a modern twist but as mentioned above so does the sound production.
"The Story of My Life" is an easy and uplifting album filled with classic blues traits modernized in the songwriting of Eric Gales. He has proven throughout his musical career what a great guitarist he is and it shows from the energy of his music. |
