"No Guts, No Glory"
Label: Roadrunner Records
After the fuss revolving around their name for two-three years now (and well deserved too I would add), this is the second album for the Aussies which starts off right where they left us with their first one. What does this mean? It means that we have to do with an album that will definitely satisfy their fans…this is certain. And the question now is…is this a good or a bad thing? What’s good is that this is the best…AC/DC album since Back In Black…and that’s what’s wrong too…What I mean is that I’d rather see the band move a little further and try to do something more distinct. I’m not implying that they are an AC/DC caricature, quite the opposite, but hell, go on and do your own thing!!! In a few words you already know what you are going to hear, which is a bit tiring, on the other hand quite amusing. What we can say is that the faster tracks in this album like “Born To Kill”, “Raise The Flag”, “Back On The Bottle” now boast better backing vocals, almost orchestral at times. I think that this gives the thing some extra prestige. No need to mention the production too. In conclusion, this is a must buy and to be accompanied by ample amounts of alcohol and listened to real loud. Especially the throttle of “It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over” should go down with lots and lots of beer. I can securely say that the feeling you get from such a band, is that you definitely have to watch them perform live. Go on and check the special edition of the first album and the extra dvd with their 2008 Wacken Fest appearance and the super videos. All I hope is that for their next album they will decide to move where it is obvious that they are capable of. Ah yes..they could also change their cover art a little bit…
