"Generation Wild"

Label: Frontiers

The nouvelle vague of European Hard Rock is at its highs this year, even if they tend to become the status quo. Within this “New Order” of things, the leading power is Crashdiet. The band who keeps going on, in spite of their troubles and following two exceptional albums and two member changes, the first unexpected and inevitable, the second just unexpected, they now release their third.

The most important accomplishment for the band from Sweden is that they made it to merge all the member changes with their music, avoiding the bumps on the way. And that’s what they manage once more. Staying true and firm to what they originally created, they assimilate all the new things brought along by the new frontman and enrich their established artistic approach. What should one expect? What else of huge, rocking riffs, sleaze aesthetics, unassuming ferocity at places and intended melodiousness elsewhere.

It’s a new album then, and it is an even more interesting one and an even more distinct as far as its goal. And if the first one was the masterfully created yet awkward attempt to address the world, if the second had to deal with the debut’s dynamics and the shock of losing a member, this third one deals with success and the previous one’s quality and does it exceptionally. Because, now, Crashdiet add up experience in dealing with any kind of circumstance and they, now, have the ability to impose changes and diversities as they chose to. Not that the awkward moments are totally absent. There are several bits and pieces, here and there, that make the priorities evident. What matters, though, in this case is the level of accomplishment and they leave absolutely no room for doubt.
